PSLM
Privacy Policy · Last updated: 2026-10-19
PSLM is a local-first audio mastering app. Your music never leaves your device,
and the app collects no personal data. Our website is separate from the app: it counts
downloads, and only if you accept, it uses Google and Meta cookies to measure advertising —
see Website. If you give us an email address on the website, see
Mailing list.
The app
- All audio processing (analysis, mastering, and export) happens entirely on your
device. Your audio files never leave your device and are never uploaded.
- PSLM does not require an account and does not use analytics, advertising, or
tracking of any kind.
- Mastering works fully offline. The app makes no network connection to do its job.
- Update checks: so it can tell you when a new version exists, PSLM
checks a small update file (our “appcast”) about once a day. That file is
hosted on GitHub Pages, and like any web request, the host receives your IP address in
order to serve it. The request sends no audio, no account, no identifiers and no system
profile, and nothing about it reaches us. Updates are offered, never installed behind
your back. You can turn automatic checks off in the app.
- Links: when you click something like this policy or our website, the
app hands the address to your browser. Nothing is sent in the background.
- Microphone: PSLM requests microphone access only so the operating
system can initialize the audio session used for master playback and A/B monitoring.
PSLM does not record, store, or transmit any audio from your microphone.
Website
None of this involves your music, your files or anything inside the app.
- Download counts. When you start the Mac download, our server records that
a download was requested: the date and time, the app version, the kind of device your browser
reports (for example macOS or Windows), your country as estimated by our host, the page on our
site you came from, and any campaign tags in the link you followed (the
utm_
parameters). That record holds no IP address, browser identity or cookie, and it is deleted
automatically within 7 days. We also keep running daily totals built from the same details
(for example, how many macOS downloads came from one campaign on one day). The totals are
numbers only: they hold no identifier and cannot be linked back to a visit. Like any web host,
our host (Cloudflare) receives your IP address in order to deliver the site.
- Analytics and advertising measurement, only if you accept. If you choose
Accept on the cookie notice, the site loads Google Analytics and the Google Ads conversion tag,
and while we run Meta ads it also loads the Meta Pixel; the notice names the companies whose
tags are active. These set their own cookies (such as
_ga, _gcl_au
and _fbp) and tell those companies which pages you viewed and whether a download
started. While we run Meta ads, our server also reports a started download to Meta directly,
sending the event time, the page, an event ID, your IP address, your browser's user agent and
the Meta cookie values, so Meta can match it to the ad and avoid counting it twice. Google signals and ad
personalisation are switched off in our Google settings. We use this to measure visits and
which ads lead to downloads.
- Declining. If you choose Decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy
Control signal, none of these tags load and nothing about your visit is sent to Google or
Meta. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the
bottom of the home page.
Mailing list
If you enter your email address on our website to be told when version 1.0 is released,
we store that address for that purpose. It is handled by
Buttondown, the email service we use to send
the message, and it is kept only as long as you stay subscribed.
- Giving us your address is entirely optional. You never need an email address to
download, run, or use PSLM.
- We use it to email you about PSLM — nothing else.
- We do not sell, rent, or share it.
- You can unsubscribe from any email we send, or write to the address below and we will
remove you.
Crash reports and feedback
PSLM does not send crash reports or usage data on its own. There is no reporting service and no
automatic upload of any kind.
If PSLM closes unexpectedly, the next time you open it we may ask whether you would like to
report it. Choosing to report opens a pre-filled email in your own mail app, addressed to
support@pslmsound.com, which you can read, edit, or
discard before sending. The same applies to Help › Send Feedback.
- The email contains whatever note you write, your PSLM version, and your macOS and Mac
details (system version, processor, memory). For a crash it also includes a short extract of
the crash report, so the cause can be identified.
- Your audio is never included, and neither is any file name, project, or
account identifier.
- macOS writes the full crash report to your own Mac. PSLM shows it to you in Finder so you
can attach it if you want to — it is never attached or sent automatically.
- You can decline every time, and you can turn the crash prompt off permanently.
We do not sell personal information, and we never have. Apart from the advertising
measurement you can accept or decline on our website, described above, we do not share it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new
